THE COWPEA
Cowpea, funny name! But it is more than that! It is a West African crop with amazing resilient properties and incredible versatility. It survives in droughts, need low inputs and fixes Nitrogen, quite a good friend for farmers!
THE NUTRITIONAL COMPOSITION
Cowpea seeds are rich in protein, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, dietary fibers, minerals, and vitamins 23% Protein content; 60% carbohydrates, 10% fibers, 1% fat. So, you are also adding high quality nutrients to your product!
Nigeria is the first producer in the world (3.6 million tons in 2021). We start in Ghana but we will combine forces with our Nigerian partners in 2025 to reach a production of 300 tons per year!

​The flours are soluble and have high foaming properties. They are also very nutritious providing up to 25% protein content in the flour and 47% in the protein rich flour.

APPLICATIONS
Our Cowpea based ingredients are suitable as clean label alternatives in bakery applications, diary alternatives. They also behave as stabilizers and emulsifiers, add texture in products such as sauces and mousses.
